Accessibility

Pentel is committed to making its online presence as accessible as possible for everyone. We continually review all aspects of our website and are actively working
to ensure that the existing site and our future online activities meet appropriate
guidelines and standards on web accessibility issues. This includes:

1. Browser compatibility
2. Text Resizing
3. Web Accessibility Initiative
4. Menu Navigation (Access Keys)
5. Screenreaders
6. Reporting problems

1. BROWSER COMPATIBILITY

An aspect of web accessibility is browser compatibility. The following browsers may
be used to view thrings.com webpages – we optimise for the latest version of each
browser:

  • Microsoft Edge
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Apple Safari
  • Google Chrome

PDFs

If you would like to use a screen reader to read PDF documents you can find out more
at the Adobe Access website.

JavaScript

Although JavaScript is used throughout the site, site functions such as navigation and
search will fully function for site visitors that do not have JavaScript enabled in their
browser.

2. TEXT RESIZING

If you have a general problem with the size of text on websites (ours and others)
there are four ways of increasing the size:

a. Change Operating System Preferences

You can change settings within Windows or Macintosh operating system to increase
the size of text used – this makes all text on your computer larger (not just websites)

b. Change Browser Preferences

You can change settings within your browser to increase the default size of “normal”
text – this has the effect of enlarging the text on all the websites that you visit
(provided those websites have been built in an accessible way)

Mozilla, Firefox and most other browsers (PC) Hold down the CTRL key and
press + Decrease text size: Hold down the CTRL key and press –

Macintosh (Safari, Firefox and most other browsers) Hold down the Command
key and press + Decrease text size: Hold down the Command key and press –
Please note browser text resizing is dependent on Javascript being turned on.

c. Zoom-in

You can use modern browsers to enlarge any web-page – the effect is to zoom-in to
the page just like enlarging an image. All “modern” browsers support this feature:
Mozilla, Firefox, Safari and Edge.

3. WEB ACCESSIBILITY INITIATIVE

This website has been built in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility
Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG 2.0) established by the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C).

Although the guidelines aim to make web content more accessible for people with
disabilities there are wider benefits to adopting the guidelines as they make sites
more user friendly for all.

All pages are checked in accordance with Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)
guidelines and adhere/comply to these guidelines as far as possible.

4. MENU NAVIGATION (ACCESS KEYS)

You can navigate through the menu using the TAB key.

5. SCREENREADER

We are pleased to link to www.screenreader.net , the home website of Thunder, the
free talking software package enabling blind and visually impaired computer users in
seven languages throughout the world. The download includes the WebbIE text
browser which is easy to use as a stand-alone or with any screenreader speech or
magnification software by this client group.

6. COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS

site, please make contact.
